Supreme Court Full Bench Entertains Legal Arguments on Tenured Positions

by Fabine W. Kwiah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Full Bench of the Supreme Court of Liberia is expected to entertain legal arguments today, Tuesday, between lawyers of the Government of Liberia and petitioners over tenured positions.

Recently, the Chairman of the Governance Commission, Attorney Garrison Yealue, EPA Executive Director, Wilson Tarpeh, and the Head of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), Edwina Zackpah, filed a Writ of Prohibition before the Justice in Chambers on grounds that they occupy tenured positions and should not be removed.

However, during a conference with Justice in Chambers Yusuf Kaba, he issued an Alternative Writ due to the Constitutional nature of the matter and forwarded it to the Full Bench for hearing.

The Full Bench of the Supreme Court of Liberia is expected to listen to the merits and demerits of the matter before deciding.
