GRAND BASSA COUNTY, LIBERIA-Grand Bassa County Superintendent, Karyou Johnson, is calling on the AFCONS Company and the National Social Security Corporation (NASSCORP) to fast-track the social security benefits for current and former workers of the company.
The mandate follows a day-long dialogue between AFCONS management, staff, and NASSCORP officials on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in Buchanan.
Superintendent Johnson criticized AFCONS’s delay in providing Social Security Identification Cards to affected workers, lack of communication about salary deductions and benefits remittance.
He held both AFCONS and NASSCORP accountable for failing to educate workers on the matter, which led to the workers’ protest in the county.
His intervention came after workers raised concerns about their NASSCORP IDs, despite contributions being made from 2010 to 2023.
NASSCORP’s Regional Director, Gbeh Montgomery, confirmed that AFCONS had made the required payments, but workers had not been properly informed.
