MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Council and Elders of Liberia has called for employment opportunities for all Sande Zoes across Liberia.
The Council Chairman, Chief Zanzar Karwor, said:” Such empowerment will serve as source of alternative livelihood for Zoes.”
Chief Karwor’s call comes in the wake of formal closure of all Sande Schools across Montserrado County, over the week end.
Speaking in Sonkay Town, Todee District, Chief Karwor said it is a difficult task to see the women relinquishing something that they have depended on for survival over the years.
He added that as traditional people, they cannot go against Government’s three-year moratorium on traditional practices, especially Female Genital Mutilation.
Chief Zanzar Karwor then expressed the hope that similar programs are held across all the eleven practicing counties of Liberia.
