MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has declared today, Tuesday, as World Malaria Day, and is to be observed throughout the Country as a Working Holiday.
The Proclamation says the 15th World Malaria Day will be celebrated under the global theme: ‘Time to Deliver Zero Malaria: Invest, Innovate, Implement with a national slogan, “Zero Malaria Starts with Me”.
A Foreign Ministry release issued recently noted that the Liberian Government has since realized the significance of protecting the well-being of its citizens and foreign residents, by ratifying the Convention on the Rights of the Child to good health and nutrition.
The Proclamation has requested the Health Ministry and other Government Agencies, as well as international organizations concerned, to initiate and execute programs befitting the day.
Meanwhile, as a member of the World Health Organization (WHO), Liberia will join other global health partners to support all health programs to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
