MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Managing Director of the Liberia Medicine and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) is calling for strong legislation on drug peddling.
Dr. Ketura Smith-Chinneh said:” The enactment of laws will enable the entity to prosecute those involved in drug peddling across the country.”
Speaking on Thursday, July 6, 2023, on ELBC Super Morning Show, Madam Smith-Chinneh said that drug peddling is on the increase, because there is no law to prosecute individuals involved in the sale of expired drugs.
She said the situation is causing serious problems for the health sector in Liberia.
The LMHRA Head also expressed hope that the Quality Control Lab of the entity can be upgraded to boost performance at the Authority.
