MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Executive Protection Service (EPS) has declared the former Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) Executive Director wanted for illegal possession of an EPS weapon.
The EPS has mandated law enforcement officers to arrest and detain the accused, Mr. Quiwu Yeke if contact is made.
Mr. Yeke is said to have a weapon the EPS described as Norinco 22 Pistol, with serial number 97344.
In a statement made on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, EPS Director Sam Gaye urged the public to approach Mr. Yeke with precaution, as he is well-armed and dangerous.
The latest from the EPS on Pepsi Yeke, a close associate of former President George Weah, comes days after President Joseph Boakai ordered ex-officials to turn over all assets of the Liberian Government in their possession.
Meanwhile, the former LACE Executive Director said:” I have not received any former request from the EPS about the weapon legally assigned to me.”
In a statement released on social media on Tuesday evening, February 6, 2024, Mr. Yeke accused the new EPS Director, Sam Gaye, of personal vendetta against his person.
According to him, it is wrong for the EPS to label him as ‘armed and dangerous’ and this was done without justification.
The former LACE Boss added that he considers the EPS statement as a threat to his life, and has since asked the elite security institution to follow the proper procedure.
