The people of Gbi – Doru in Nimba County have officially petitioned President George Weah for political and administrative status.
The citizens want the area to be a Political District under Rivercess County.
According to our reporter, the citizens presented their petition to President Weah Thursday during a Town Hall meeting as part of the ongoing County tour.
President Weah is now regarded as the second President next to former President Edwin J. Barclay to visit Gbi and Doru Chiefdoms.
But, responding to their petition, President Weah urged the citizens to remain calm as their request is currently under intense scrutiny between the Executive and the Legislature.
President Weah said though the abandonment of the area has led to the lack of basic social services, Government will look at all the legal implications before making any decision.
