Nimba County Bar Association shocks over threats of war, violence in Ganta

by Fabine W. Kwiah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Nimba County Bar Association says, it is shocked by the threats of war and violence that took place in Ganta as a result of court-ordered demolition.

In a press statement, the Bar Association’s Secretary-General, Atty. Emmanuel Tomah, described Mike Jabateh’s invectives and threats made against Chief Justice, Francis Korkpor, as unwarranted.

The Nimba Bar noted that their review of the records of the case shows that Justice Korkpor was never involved with the case and neither did he participate in the determination of the matter.

The Bar is cautioning Jabateh and individuals in the habit of attributing court decisions to the Chief Justice to desist.

He clarified that whenever the Supreme Court decides a matter, such a decision is made through a majority vote, and not by the Chief Justice alone.

Atty. Tomah is therefore calling on Nimbians, irrespective of tribe, to obey court orders and rulings.
