President George Weah Says RIA Road Expansion and Modernization Will Minimize Accidents and add Pride to Liberia

Monrovia Liberia – President George Weah says with modernization, the ELWA – RIA Highway will no longer be a death trap for Liberians and foreign nationals.

President Weah said since the road was constructed in the 1940s, many Liberians, including foreign nationals, have lost their lives because of its bad condition.

The President named the narrow structure of the RIA Highway and lack of lighting system as major factors responsible for more accidents along the highway over the years.

The Liberian Leader, however, expressed optimism that upon completion, the road will attract trade and commerce in six of the Liberia’s fifteen Counties and add pride to the country internationally.

President Weah was speaking Thursday in Margibi County when he broke grounds for the expansion and reconstruction of the ELWA – RIA Highway.

He used the occasion to thank Liberia’s partners for their continued support to his administration.

The Liberian leader reaffirmed his commitment building road infrastructures across the country. According to the Liberian leader the Airport road expansion and other major road infrastructures are crucial the overall improvement of the nation’s economy
