President Weah Commissions Raw Water Pipe, funded by MCC compact grant

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – President George Weah has commissioned the raw water pipe constructed by the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation with funding from the Millennium Challenge Compact.

Speaking before the commissioning exercise, President Weah thanked the People of the United States for such a transformative gift, which he said is in full alignment with Liberia’s national development program.

About US18.5Million of the compact funding was used to construct the raw water pipe to boost water supply to Monrovia and its environs.

According to him, reducing poverty, which is the objective of the Compact, is the hallmark of the Pro-Poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity.

The Liberian leader then recommitted his government, to work diligently in lifting Liberians out of the cycle of poverty.

The pipe will deliver raw water from Mount Coffee to the LWCS water treatment plant in White Plains, Montserrado County.
