Gov’t launches official Bi-centennial Program

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has launched the official Bi-centennial program that will lead to the celebrations of the founding of the Liberian Republic.

The National Coordinator of the program, Mr. Nathaniel McGill, launched the platform on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the MICAT Press Briefing in Monrovia.

Minister of State for Presidential Affairs McGill said the one year celebration will end on December 22, 2022, with series of programs organized by members of the committee.

Minister McGill said:” The main celebrations will begin in February 2022, and the National Orator is from the United States of America.”

He disclosed that the Liberian and United States Governments are supporting the two-hundredth celebration of the Country.

The National Coordinator urged members of the opposition community to join the Government in planning the program, stressing that the program is void of political interferences, as it is about Liberia.

Meanwhile, Minister Nathaniel McGill has hailed journalists, through the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), for beginning what is expected to be an effective coverage of the pending bi-centennial celebrations.

Also speaking, Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah, said:” international guests from the United States, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom and other parts of Africa, will form part of the commemoration of the program.”

Minister Kemayah also quotes President George Weak  as calling on all Liberians, and people of good will from the across the world, to join the Government in participating in the historic event.

The theme of the Bi-centennial Celebrations is: A Land of the Return Commemorating Two-Hundred Tears of Freedom and Pan African Leadership”, while the slogan is” The Lone Star Forever, Stronger Together”.
