Mano River Union Delegation engages Guinean Military Authorities

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Head of a high level Mano River Union Mission, Dee-Maxwell Kemayah, has met with Guinea Military Leader, Mamady Doumbouya.

The closed door meeting was held on Sunday, December 5, 20201, at the State Palace in Conakry, Guinea.

The MRU Joint Mission to Guinea included the regional body’s Secretary General, Medina Wesseh, Liberia’s Deputy Defense Minister for Operations, Prince Vincent, Sierra Leonean Defense Minister, Hassan Conteh, and Brigadier General Abu Bakar-Conteh, of the Sierra Leonean Armed Forces, among others.

The engagement in Guinea is in furtherance of a joint communiqué adopted recently at the of a MRU Summit in Liberia.

ELBC Reporter travelling with the Mission said details of the meeting were not immediately disclosed.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Kemayah says:” No border of Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast will be used by anyone or group to cause instability in Guinea.”

Ambassador Kemayah said the Mission’s role is to complement mediatory efforts of the MRU, ECOWAS, AU and the UNITED Nations, and other bilateral partners

For   his part, Guinean Foreign Minister, Morrisanda Koutartey lauded Ambassador Kemayah and the joint MRU Mission for their engagement

He said:” The visit of the Joint Mission is a demonstration of great solidarity with the Government and people of Guinea.”
