by Joseph Sayon

MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Public Works has ordered the opening of the refurbished Du-River Bridge within the Firestone Concession to the public.

It followed the turning over of the bridge on Monday, December 6, 2021, to the Management of Firestone by Acting Public Works Minister, Ruth Coker-Collins.

Minister Coker said the bridge will be officially dedicated by President George Weah on a later date.

She noted that the bridge will bring immense relief to motorists plying the road and the entire workforce of Firestone.

Minister Collins said:” The project was funded by Firestone in the tone of 1.3 Million United States Dollars, but the Liberian Government will, in return, provide a future tax relief of sixty-percent of the overall cost of the project to the Company.”

Responding, Firestone-Liberia Managing Director, Don Darden, said:” The opening of the bridge is an important milestone to the operations of the Company.”

Meanwhile, Margibi County District One Representative, Tibelrosa Tarponweh, has lauded the commitment by President Weah and Firestone-Liberia towards the reconstruction of the bridge.

Representative Tarponweh particularly praised the Management of Firestone-Liberia for the cooperation demonstrated to the Liberian Government, during the project implementation.

The Lawmaker then called on the people to maximize the use of the bridge.
