Criminal Court ‘C’ finds GT Bank guilty of theft…..

by Fabine W. Kwiah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Criminal Court ‘C’ has found the Management of Guaranty Trust Bank Liberia (GT) Bank guilty of stealing nine-hundred-thousand United States Dollars.

Judge Ciapha Carey on Thursday, May 5, 2022, ruled that the pieces of evidence adduced in court by prosecuting lawyers, led by Cllr. Bobby Livingstone, were convincing to convict GT Bank of theft of property, and misapplication of entrusted property.

Judge Carey’s ruling further mandated the Bank to restitute over four-hundred-thousand US Dollars to Kailondo Petroleum within six months, for their criminal conduct.

But lawyers representing the Bank took exception to the Court‘s ruling, by announcing an appeal to the Supreme Court.

The Management of GT Bank was indicted by the Grand Jury of Montserrado County, for allegedly stealing nine-hundred-thousand US Dollars from the petroleum  company’s accounts with the Bank.
