Liberia Begins Exporting Quality Cocoa Globally

by Varflay Kamara

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia has begun exporting world class quality cocoa on the global market, for the first time, since the end of the Liberian Civil War.

The Director General of the Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA), Dr. John Flomo, made the disclosure during an interview Tuesday, April 4, 2023, on ELBC Economic Hour.

Dr, Flomo said:” Since 2019, the Country ended the exportation of cocoa waste and began exporting grades one, two and organic cocoa.

The LACRA Boss credited the recent achievement in the cocoa sector to the Authority’s vigorous regulatory framework.

Dr. Flomo also admitted that the deplorable conditions of farm-to market roads remain an impediment to increasing cocoa production.
