MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Labor has instructed the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) to increase salaries of its workers, in the absence of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Announcing the decision on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in Congo Town, Labor Minister, Cllr. Charles Gibson said the increment will be done in three stages.

Minister Gibson said:” LEC has agreed to add twenty-three-thousand United States Dollars monthly to the current salary envelop of the entity”.

He said:” The increment will be done in the categories of forty, thirty-five and thirty USD respectively, based on the pay grade”.

At the same time, Minister Gibson has ordered the Management of Arcelor Mittal Liberia to increase its employees’ salaries by not more than five percent.

The Labor Minister quotes the workers as saying the Company is capable of increasing their salaries, evidenced by the huge investment across the Country, including support to sports and other infrastructure projects.
