MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has by Proclamation declared Friday, April 14 as “National Fast and Prayer Day” to be observed throughout the Republic as a National Holiday.

The Proclamation is in consonance with the Patriotic and Cultural Observances Law of Liberia, which declared the Second Friday in April of each year as “National Fast and Prayer Day”.

According to the Proclamation, the day is set aside to supplicate, pray, fast, and meditate for the common cause of the Nation, the State, and Humanity.

The day calls on all Prelates, Priests, Elders, Deacons, Evangelists, Imams as well as residents, regardless of religious creed, to gather with one accord, in their places of worship to pray for the Nation.

A Foreign Ministry release also orders all public offices, business houses, and marketplaces to remain closed during the observance of the day.
