MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Vice President of Liberia, Jewel Howard-Taylor, says the Liberian Government has done so much in lifting thousands of its people out of poverty.

Vice President Taylor said:” Lifting people out of poverty is crucial to the advancement of citizens, and ensuring that the country works for all”.

She said this has been achieved through different empowerment opportunities, especially for youth and vulnerable communities.

VP Taylor hailed President Weah for his strong leadership and the support of partners in building a new Liberia.

Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor spoke on Thursday, May 18, 2023, when Majority Staffers of the National Legislature endorsed the reelection bid of President George Weah.

In another development, a group under the banner” Majority Staffers” of the National Legislature has distanced itself from the endorsement of former Vice President, Joseph Boakai, on Capitol Hill, in Monrovia.

Recently, a group believed to be the “Legislative Staffers Association” endorsed the Boakai-Koung Ticket for the Liberian Presidency.

However, addressing a press conference on Thursday, May 18, 2023, “Majority Staffers” of the National Legislature termed the endorsement as null and avoid.

The Chairman of the group, Chambiyor Bridges, said:” The National Legislature does not have any group called Legislative Staffers Association”.

Mr. Bridges lauded his colleagues for the spirit of unity, amid the ongoing tension among staffers of the National Legislature over the decision.
