Justice Wolokollie Places Stay Order on Murder Trial of Former Chief Justice Gloria Scott…

by Fabine W. Kwiah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Presiding Justice in Chambers at the Supreme Court of Liberia has placed a stay order on the murder trial of former Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott and three others at Criminal Court ‘A’ in Monrovia.

Associate Justice Jamesetta Howard Wolokollie on Thursday, September 22, 2023, ordered Judge Roosevelt Willie to stop all proceedings and actions in the case.

Justice Wolokollie has since cited both Defense and Prosecution Lawyers for a legal conference on Monday, September 26, 2023.

Her action was triggered by a petition for Writ of Certiorari filed by Defense Lawyers, following Judge Willie’s decision that led to the suspension of Solicitor General, Cllr. Nyenati Tuan.

Despite the Defense Lawyers’ petition before the Justice in Chambers, State Prosecutors surfaced with a similar petition also seeking to correct Judge Willie’s September 18 decision.
