by Maximilian K. Kasseh jr

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Official campaign activities for the ensuing Presidential and Legislative Elections have ended on Sunday, October 8, across the country.

National Elections Commission officially declared campaign activities opened, beginning August 5 to October 8, 2023, to allow political parties and independent candidates to articulate their respective political manifestos to electorates.

The ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) concluded its campaign activities last evening in Monrovia and its immediate environs to comply with electoral guidelines.

Liberians are due to go to the polls this Tuesday, October 10, 2023, to elect their national leaders consistent with provisions of the Liberian Constitution.

Incumbent President and CDC Standard Bearer, George Weah, is heavily being challenged by nineteen candidates in the Presidential race.

At the same time, the Elections Coordinating Committee (ECC) has again urged Liberians to maintain the country’s peace during and after the electioneering periods.

ECC Executive Director, Oscar Bloh, said:” The ensuing elections are crucial towards the consolidation of the nation’s democratic gains.”

Mr. Bloh wants all political parties and the security apparatus to conduct programs and activities in a manner that will in no way derail Liberia’s progress.

He also cautioned media institutions and practitioners to refrain from disseminating inflammatory messages that have the propensity to instill fear in the population.

The ECC Boss spoke at a press conference over the weekend.
