EEC Chairperson, Cllr. Oscar Bloh, described the introduction of the system as strategic decision taken by NEC, to improve the country’s electoral process. Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, Cllr. Bloh also urged the NEC to remain professional during the tallying of votes from the just-ended election, to ensure credibility. He cautioned media practitioners against the dissemination of misinformation and disinformation, to foster peace and democracy in Liberia. Meanwhile, Cllr. Bloh has assured the public of the entity’s commitment to update citizens on findings from the 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections. At the same time, the Coordinated Election Situation Room has extolled the Commission for the peaceful conduct of Tuesday’s Presidential Run-Off Election. A senior member of the group, Benedict Roberts, said though there were some challenges at the start of the process, the election was peaceful and successful. Mr. Roberts also praised Liberians, especially persons with disabilities, for turning out to exercise their democratic rights. He, however, cautioned political parties and their supporters against pre-victory celebrations, noting that the act undermines the authority of the Commission.
