Payneberry Bridge Poses Threat to Students, Faculty of Grand Bassa University

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The President of the Grand Bassa University has decried the deplorable condition of the Payneberry Bridge linking the University to the provincial capital, Buchanan.

In an ELBC interview on Thursday, December 14, 2023, Dr. Samuel Monwell said:” The Ministry of Public Works hired a construction firm to reconstruct the bridge, but no major work has been done.”

Dr. Monwell disclosed that the University has undertaken the maintenance of the foot-path bridge as a temporary project ahead of the rehabilitation of the damaged bridge.

He has described the damaged bridge as a serious threat to students and faculty of the University.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works is expected to dispatch a team of engineers to the site for assessment on Friday, December 15, 2023.
