MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai, and Vice President Jeremiah Koung have tested negative for drugs.

Both leaders took the drug test on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Executive Mansion.

In an interview shortly after the test, President Boakai renewed his commitment to lead by example.

The Liberian Leader, while encouraging others to follow suit, also assured Liberians that he remains prepared to meet the needs and aspirations of all citizens.

He said:” This can be achieved with a dedicated and committed mindset from every Liberia.”

President Joseph Boakai’s action is in adherence to his recent State of the Nation Address, where he asked every Government official to take a drug test, as part of efforts to address the proliferation of narcotic drugs in the Country.

Meanwhile, several officials of the Government have adhered to the President’s mandate to curb the widespread of drugs in Liberia.

The officials include Justice Minister Designate Cllr. Cooper Kruah, Agriculture Minister Alexander Nuetah, and Gender Minister Designate Gbemie Horace, among others.

Others are Finance Minister Boima Kamara, Foreign Minister Designate Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency Boss, Abraham Kromah, and Health Minister Designate Dr.Louise Kpoto.

They vowed to support the President’s efforts on the elimination of harmful drugs across the Country.

Recently President Joseph Boakai declared drugs as a national health emergency and called for a collective fight to end the menace.
