MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Over 30,000 Liberians are to shortly benefit from a renewable energy project worth over US$8Million.
The project will provide clean, reliable and affordable source of energy to households, schools, health facilities and small businesses to enhance living conditions and reduce poverty.
The decision was reached over the weekend at the 9th Session of the International Renewable Energy Agency in Abu Dhabi.
According a statement, funding for the project is being made available by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The release says the renewable energy projects will provide energy access and advance sustainable development in Liberia.
As part of the project, a 2.1 hydropower plant will be constructed on the Gee River in Rivergee County.
