LOFA COUNTY, LIBERIA-Zorzor District Education Officer, Mulbah Wolobah, is admonishing the young people of Liberia to take advantage of Vocational and Technical Education for sustainable livelihood.
Mr. Wolobah said: “Although formal education is a medium for enlightenment, value addition, through the T-VET Program, leads to self-employment and sustainability”.
Serving as Keynote Speaker during the Dedication Ceremony of Camp for Peace Liberia’s Vocational Training School in Salayea, Lofa County, Mr. Wolobah paid tribute to the organization for initiating the training to empower young people.
Giving an overview of the program, Camp for Peace Liberia’s Executive Director, Abel Learwellie, said: “The unveiling of the state-of-the-art infrastructure is a beacon of opportunity for young people of Lofa County in developing their skills”.
He lauded partners, including the Pindoff Family Charity Foundation, the Steel Workers’ Humanity Fund of Canada, Local Authorities of Salayea, and the Construction Team for their unwavering support of the program.
In 2005, the Local NGO, Camp for Peace Liberia (CFP-Liberia) was established by a group of visionary youths to transform the lives of young people through community-based education and awareness in response to the manifest need for sustainable peace and development.
The Organization has been providing support to educational institutions in Liberia for the empowerment of young people.
It operated the Farmer Field School located in Salayea, Lofa County, for several years and provided hands-on agriculture training for the youth of Zorzor and Salayea Districts in Lofa County.
The organization also embarked on value addition with cassava processing into Super Gari, packaged and delivered to customers.
Other programs include fish production, poultry, animal husbandry, and weaving for women in the district.
Camp for Peace Liberia has now negotiated with the Local Authorities of Salayea, for additional land space that would provide a dormitory for the students, a guest house, and other agricultural activities.
