GANTA, NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA-President George Weah has dispelled speculations that the proposition on tenure of the presidency is intended to open a third term bid for the post.

Speaking Wednesday, December 2, 2020, in Gompa City, Nimba County, President Weah clarified that the proposition to reduce the tenure of the presidency is in good faith and void of any perceived third term bid.

The Liberian Leader said some members of the opposition have inferred that the prepositions for referendum are in violation of the Constitution of Liberia, an allegation he has categorically dismissed.

President Weah added that if he had any such plan, it would have surfaced during the 2005 Elections.

Meanwhile, President Weah has reiterated calls for Liberians to demonstrate a “Yes” vote for all propositions in the Referendum for the betterment of the Country.

The Liberian Chief Executives also called on electorates to vote all the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) candidates in the December 8, 2020, Senatorial and By-Elections for the overall development of the Country.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Bhofal Chambers, has welcomed President Weah’s “Vote Yes Campaign” for the eight propositions during the Referendum on December 8.

Speaker Chambers also called on Liberians to elect the Senatorial candidates of the CDC in the fifteen counties, including the two Representative candidates in Montserrado and Sinoe Districts 9 and 2, respectively.

According to him, the overwhelming endorsement of the eight propositions by Liberians will further enhance and promote good governance and accountability, including growth and development of the Country.

The Speaker made the remarks Wednesday, December 2,2020, in an ELBC interview.
