by Francis Pelenah Jr,

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Government of Liberia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with the University of Liberia Faculty Association and the UL Administration.

It followed weeks of engagements with ULFA and the UL authorities as directed by President George Weah, Visitor to the University.

The government, represented by the Ministry of Finance and the Civil Service Agency, signed the MOU with ULFA and the UL Administration Friday in Congo Town.

The MOU seeks to address perennial problems that have plagued the University of Liberia, which have been in existence prior to the Administration of President George Weah.

The signing of the MoU will end the strike action of the University of Liberia Faculty Association and ensure the resumption of classes beginning next, Friday October 8, 2021.

The MoU, among other things, also targets resolving some key demands of the University of Liberia Faculty Association including resolution of salary disparities through standardization and gradual increment of salaries for members of the University Faculty.
